What is Seafood Sustainability?
"Sustainable Development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." - United Nations Brundtland Commission, 1987.

The vast majority of East Bay Seafood is caught in the wild. Sustainability for wild-caught seafood means it must be legally caught, secure from poaching and protected from overfishing. Further, the fishing practices need to minimize damage to the habitat and non-target species.

Sustainable seafood farming encapsulates a number of key objectives: it must include habitat conservation, be free of antibiotic or chemical use, promote biodiversity, allow for the escape of exotic species and include a responsible feed management system.

At East Bay Seafood, we are committed to providing you with a product that you can feel good about. By buying seafood from a company that is committed to sustainability, you are helping to protect this valuable resource for future generations.
